The L.D.Varley Sundial is designed and manufactured in Melbourne Australia, this Sundial is sand cast by hand in LG1 Gunmetal, which as you may guess was the metal originally used to cast cannons in sailing ship days. The sundial will last indefinitely in the open air and will age gracefully from the polished appearance when new as shown above, to a warm bronze patina. The Sundial is 300 mm square and the traditional Sundial quotation "Carpe Diem" translates to "Seize the Day"
The Sundial is accurately calibrated to display sun time for Melbourne and points east and west. Some errors will occur when used in northern and southern states.
